See you in the dark: evolution of vision in the deep-sea fishes
Abstract: In the deep ocean we find bizarre-looking fish with extreme adaptations of their visual system. From morphology to molecular level, these modifications help to make better use of the sensory system, hence, to perceive light in the harsh deep-water environment. As an example, I will be happy to present our current research on multiple rhodopsin duplications in some of the deep-sea fish lineages.
