Biodiversity is the variety and variability of life on our Planet. It serves multiple functions in regulating chemistry of the atmosphere, water supply, production of biomass and recycling essential nutrients.

This video is about 4th network school of EU ITN RIBES project. This network school was organized by IGB on the Tagliamento River in Italy during the period from 26 June till 3 July 2022.

Cholesterolemia fluviatilis: plastic is like the cholesterol in the blood system of our continents, the river systems. It is increasingly accumulating in sediments and floodplains. In Alexander Sukhodolov's research group, Humboldt Fellow Martin Blettler is investigating macroplastic residues on the Tagliamento River in Italy.
