Based on scientific facts and research, the artists Nicolas Wiese and Claudia van Hasselt, the aquatic biologist Christian Wolter, the environmental ethicist Hanna Schudy and Anja Hennig as moderator travel with the passengers along the Oder River. During the journey, scientific and artistic impulses show how the Oder functions as a habitat for divers communities – humans and animals alike. This opens up unexpected perspectives on the mutual interdependencies in and along the river. We invite you to discover the world with the senses of the river dwellers: through music, vibration and open conversation, the Oder and its creatures become an immediate part of your own world of experience. A soundscape of environmental sounds and diary entries in a wagon merge with live compositions by Polish artist Wojtek Blecharz and free improvisation. What makes this special is that the boundary between the performers, the speakers and the passengers is blurred. The audience decides whether they want to be spectators or part of the action.
Oder Hive is a collaborative project between the artist collective FrauVonDa// and the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries.
