In cooperation with the Angling Association of Lower Saxony, IGB scientists are investigating the effectiveness of a sustainable revaluation of shore areas in excavated lakes. The aim is to increase the fish density and biodiversity in the water bodies by the introduction of deadwood and the generation of shallow water areas. Before the changes take place, an inventory of the current fish fauna is carried out with electrofisheries in order to be able to measure later changes. In the case of eletrofishing, the fish are only anesthetized for a short time and are reset after detection.
