Journalist rush on the LakeLab

bb radio and television reporting
As if they had arranged to meet, a television team and a radio reporter, both from rbb, visited the LakeLab today. The team around Boris Römer filmed a video for the evening television series zibb - Zuhause in Berlin & Brandenburg (At home in Berlin & Brandenburg) and Bernd Dreiocker recorded the original sounds for a feature on rbb kulturradio.

Together with the IGB technicians Monika Degebrodt and Michael Sachtleben, the tv team drove out to the LakeLab where they filmed a water sampling. Back to the lab they followed how the samples are processed. Subsequently, Mark Gessner was available to answer their questions on the LakeLab.

Bernd Dreiocker had been sent out by rbb kulturradio to record original soundtracks for a feature on Lake Stechlin[nbsp] and the novel 'The Stechlin' from Theodor Fontane, who would have his 200th birthday this year. At IGB Stechlin, the radio journalist met IGB scientist Peter Casper, who after researching Lake Stechlin for over 35 years, is not only an expert of the lake, but also a literary adept who knows how to combine myth and science in his explanation of the 'red rooster'. The legend which also inspired Fontane goes that a red rooster rose from Lake Stechlin frightening the Stechlin fisherman who fell out of his boat and drowned.
