We study the evolution and ecology of freshwater insects, plankton, microbes, and fish, focusing on large rivers and lakes. We use molecular methods (genetics - genomics - bioinformatics) to study evolution and lineage diversification, to better understand the response of organisms and communities to environmental change, and to provide an ecological component to interdisciplinary projects that balance societal needs with biodiverse ecosystems.
