The FIDIMO fish dispersal model is a GRASS GIS-based model for predicting and simulating species-specific fish dispersal in river networks taking into account barriers to movement (e.g. dams and weirs). FIDIMO has already been applied for several spatially-explicit, mechanistic analyses of fish dispersal in various scientific contexts (e.g. in climate change research). Moreover, FIDIMO has become a highly relevant tool in applied river management, e.g. for the assessment of the (re)colonisation potential of restored river reaches. This open-source modelling program has been developed and programmed as part of the IGB-coordinated IMPACT project and the FISHCON project.
FIDIMO is free and open-source software that can be downloaded as a GRASS GIS add-on.
