Girls' Day at IGB

What does a water researcher actually do?

"Research for the future of our freshwaters" is the motto of the IGB. We want to understand the fundamental processes in water bodies and their biocoenoses. Our research knowledge should help society and policy-makers to cope with global environmental changes (such as climate change) and to manage and conserve water-based resources and ecosystems for the benefit of people and nature.

How do you actually take a water sample and analyse it in the laboratory?

A river is more than water in a gutter, why should a river flow freely?

Drones equipped with cameras can help assess water quality. Learn about the use of these flying machines for science and try flying a drone yourself.

Plus: How the big sturgeons survived the dinos but were nearly wiped out by humans.

The event will take place on 27 April from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the IGB in Berlin Friedrichshagen.

Age: 15 years and older
