Neurotoxic cyanobacteria in association with aquatic plants pose a real health threat, which could even further increase in the future.

In this DFG-funded project, we will develop experiments and theoretical models testing whether explicitly accounting for interactions between key evolutionary and community processes results in a better understanding of species and community responses to environmental change.

We here address one of the arguably most fundamental questions associated with exploration behaviour in biological systems: how do behavioural-experiential trajectories dynamically unfold in newly born organisms? That is, when being confronted with an unknown environment, what are the exact sequences of exploration behaviours and associated experiences that real-world organisms go through, from day 1 of their life?

We aim to unravel how C:nutrient ratios, polyphenol content and bacteria interact on macrophyte decomposition.

In LakeBase we intend to bring long-term data of German lakes into one database infrastructure in order to make them visible and internationally assessable. 

The DASTMAP project develops and applies new genetic markers to characterize four in the Danube River endangered sturgeon species as a prerequisite for sustainable fisheries and conservation management.

DANUBE4all will advance existing and develop new digital tools, Citizen Science and technical restoration measures to support fresh and transitional water ecosystem restoration.
