Science of Intelligence, a joint Cluster of Excellence of Technische Universität Berlin and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, is focusing on better understanding intelligence in all its facets. Jens Krause and his group contribute with their expertise on collective behavior and collective intelligence. The cluster’s methodological strategy is a very new approach in which all knowledge, methods, concepts, and theories must be incorporated into technological artifacts, such as robots or computer programs. These artifacts serve as a common “language” that is intended to facilitate scientific exchange across disciplinary boundaries.
The Centre for the Advanced Study of Collective Behaviour is an initiative of the University of Konstanz that is dedicated to data-based research on collective behaviour, from swarm intelligence of animal groups and human decision-making processes to economic networks. Therefor, expertise from the fields of biology, psychology, physics, economics as well as computer science is bundled. The research cluster utilizes state-of-the-art sensor systems such as the space-based ICARUS module for tracking animal movements. Jens Krause is involved as external scientist.
