Global Evaluation of the Impacts of Storms on freshwater habitat and structure of phytoplankton assemblages (GEISHA)

In Geisha we study the impact of storms on the diversity, structure and functional traits of freshwater phytoplankton communities. We put focus on changes in the thermal stratification of lakes, which is strongly related to atmospheric conditions, as a primary environmental driver of phytoplankton succession.
