Girls' Day 2024

A day as a freshwater researcher

How do you take and analyse a water sample and how do you investigate bodies of water in a changing climate? We take the boat out to our measuring station on Lake Müggelsee.

Yuck, insects! We don't think so. Insects are essential for pollinating plants and an important part of food webs on land and in the water. Light pollution can threaten insects if they are attracted to street lamps, for example. Find out which insects there are and which are particularly sensitive to light pollution. You too can avoid light pollution with a few simple tricks.

Plus: How the large sturgeons survived the dinosaurs but were almost wiped out by humans.

The event will take place at the IGB in Berlin-Friedrichshagen.

Please note: Parental consent is required for the boat trip (with life jackets, depending on weather conditions)!

Age: 15 years and older
